Upcoming US Rum Releases of Interest — February 2024

Here’s a new list of upcoming rum releases for the US market compiled from TTB label certifications approved in January 2024. These are only label approvals recorded at the US TTB, so none of these are likely to be available yet and it’s anyone’s guess when they might appear in stores.

This doesn’t include every rum label approval, I’ve tried to triage the approvals to the brands that people would recognize, while also including other labels that might be interesting and excluding spiced/flavored products and most cachacas.

The TTB approved 90 rum labels in total this month, 31 are covered here.

This month’s highlights include a new Appleton Estates Hearts Collection bottle, new releases from independent bottlers Down Island Spirits, and Raising Glasses, the first release from Rosalie Bay Distillery in Dominica, several new Mexican rum releases (including one from Alambique Serrano), an interesting set of releases from a distillery in Cape Verde, and releases from a new Alabama distillery that focuses on rum.

You can find the January release of this report here.

El Dorado

Special Select Barrel 11YO, South Jersey Bourbon Drinkers, Approved 18 January 2024.

As expected, along with the long-awaited announcement of Plantation’s new name comes a flurry of new labels. It looks like the announcement came a day after the label approvals.

Planteray XO 20th Anniversary, Approved 8 January 2024.

Planteray Fiji, Approved 8 January 2024.

Other Releases of Interest

Rosalie Bay Dominica Single Rum, Approved 24 January 2024.

Here’s the first release of rum to hit the US from Rosalie Bay distillery in Dominica. Brett Steigerwaldt, head distiller for Lyon Rum, has been helping the team at Rosalie Bay as a side project for a while now and it’s great to see a release hitting the market.

Pelacanas Llamarada, Approved 3 January 2024.

This is a new one for me, but this could be interesting.

Pelacanas Blanco, Approved 3 January 2024.

Chicago Cane Collective Dani’s Tavern Rum, Approved 29 January 2024.

Atelier Vie Calio Cask Strength 5YO, Approved 10 January 2024.

Pa’Lante Blanco, Approved 17 January 2024.

Pa’Lante Reposado, Approved 12 January 2024.

Pa’Lante 8 YO Anejo, Approved 17 January 2024.

Guajana 110, Approved 30 January 2024.

This is a new distillery in a suburb of Huntsville, Alabama that focuses mainly on rum.

Guajana 94, Approved 30 January 2024.

UPAPIT 11.11 Nova, Approved 24 January 2024.

This might be the first rum that’s not labeled as a Grogue I’ve seen from Cape Verde. I have quite a few questions about their label (the one on the right with the government warning is actually the front label).

UPAPIT 11.11 1 YO, Approved 20 January 2024.

An aged version of the above, again with what you might think is the back label on the front and a few spelling errors.

Dos Maderas Seleccion Triple Aged, Approved 29 January 2024.

Tanduay Sauternes-Finished, Approved 11 January 2024.

Tanduay Overproof, Approved 11 January 2024.

Hangar 1 Rum, Approved 10 January 2024.

From Proximo Distillers, who bought the Hangar 1 brand from St George Spirits a few years ago.

Label Updates

  • Don Q Cristal has two new labels that appear to be updates for existing products.
